Each base is different but generally for timber / composite joists you need approximately 0.7 - 0.9 screws per m2.
For example, a decking area 8m x 5m (40m2) requires 35 screws.
This is calculated with a maximum joist span of 1.5m, which equates to 7 rows of 5 screws.
